FAQ's

  • 1. Q - How does the sugaring process work?

A – Sugaring is a warm thick paste that looks like honey. It is applied first in the opposite direction of the hair growth using the hands (with gloves), and then flicked off in the direction of hair growth.

  • 2. Q – Is the sugar paste hygienic?

A – Yes, sugar paste consists of sugar, lemon juice and water. Bacteria does not breed in high concentrates of sugar, making sugar paste a hygienic choice.

  • 3. Q – How do I prepare for my sugaring appointment?

A – Arrive with clean skin - free of lotion, deodorant, or oils and wear loose comfortable clothing. For men, bring a clean white (preferably cotton) shirt to put on after the treatment.

  • 4. Q – Does sugaring hurt?

A - Yes, it does. Any time you extract hair out of the root, it’s going to hurt, especially for a first-time client. If you continue sugaring every four weeks, it gets less and less painful because the hair is shorter and grows back less and less dense.

The degree of pain depends on your day, if you’re stressed out, are close to menstruation or if the hair is a bit long - the pain might be more so.

  • 5. Q - How long does an appointment last?

A – The length of appointment depends on the area of hair-removal; for repeat clients the average time is 7-10 minutes and 20 minutes for new clients.

  • 6. Q - How long does the hair have to be before it can be removed?

A – Hair should be about a quarter of an inch long so the sugar paste can bind to the hair and pull it out at the root. Clients should stop shaving 10 days prior to their appointment.

  • 7. Q – How long should I wait between treatments?

A – You should wait about 3-4 weeks between treatments.

  • 8. Q – Is sugaring safe for teenagers?

A – Sugaring is safe for teenagers. Removing the hair follicle when it's in a development stage leads to less growth of hair when done frequently over time.

  • 9. Q – When should I avoid sugaring?

A - Sugaring should be avoided in areas that are being treated with any topical retinoid product such as retin-A, differin, or tazorac. Contact Nabila if you have any questions about circumstances that may prevent you from a sugaring treatment.

  • 10. Q – What if I have my period the day of my appointment?

A – Please avoid timing your appointments with your menstrual cycle as you may be more sensitive at this time.

  • 11. Q – Can men get sugaring done for back hair?

A – Yes, men can be sugared for back hair.

  • 12. Q – What are your appointment policies?

A – We collect a credit card on file at the time of booking and is only charged if you cancel within 24 hours of your appointment. Your payment is due at the time of service via cash, Cash App, Venmo or Apple Pay.
